Databases

Use online databases to research various subjects, get homework help, learn languages, fix your car, download materials.

Databases vs. Google?

Databases contain subscription-based content in the form of magazines, newspapers, & journal articles.

  • The content is academic, peer-reviewed and ideal for research projects for all ages.

  • It's NOT searching the internet, it's searching a database!

What about Wikipedia?

  • Wikipedia is an online resource that can be edited by anyone, regardless of credentials or authority.
  • It's fun to use when looking up episodes of your favorite TV show, but not a recommended source when doing research.

But can't I just use Google?

Google is a great tool, but you need to be careful when deciding how to search for information.

  • Google returns results based on the number of site hits, not the accuracy of information!
